The East-West Vocational Education Curriculum and Textbook Research Base Alliance was established on July 12 at Gansu Finance and Trade Vocational College. The alliance is led by Gansu Finance and Trade Vocational College, Tianjin Light Industry Vocational and Technical College, and other institutions, in collaboration with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Vocational Education Textbook and Teaching Method Research Base Alliance, the Western Regional Vocational Education Textbook and Teaching Method Research Base Alliance, and other organizations.
With the core philosophy of "East-West collaboration, digital empowerment, vocational education going global, and collaborative talent cultivation," the alliance aims to build a platform for coordinated development of East-West vocational education. Gansu Finance and Trade Vocational College and Tianjin Light Industry Vocational and Technical College were elected as chair units, with the alliance secretariat permanently based at Gansu Finance and Trade Vocational College. The inaugural conference released the "East-West Vocational Colleges Central Asia Digital Textbook Support Plan" and held discussions on topics including AI-empowered vocational education. The alliance will use textbook reform as a breakthrough to drive coordinated reform of majors, courses, and other key elements, striving to establish a set of advanced standard systems by 2027.
With the core philosophy of "East-West collaboration, digital empowerment, vocational education going global, and collaborative talent cultivation," the alliance will coordinate five core initiatives: digital textbook standard development, curriculum system co-construction, faculty collaborative training, regional industry-education coordination, and vocational education going global. It is committed to building a comprehensive collaboration platform integrating curriculum development, digital textbook co-construction, teaching reform practice, and faculty collaborative training. The alliance aims to break the traditional one-way assistance model, build a three-dimensional collaboration network featuring two-way East-West flow, industry-education linkage, and digital empowerment, and leverage the mature curriculum and textbook development experience of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the industrial and regional advantages of the western region to open up two-way channels for "eastern resources going west and western specialties going east."
The alliance aims to promote high-quality coordinated development of East-West vocational education, and build a replicable and scalable model for regional vocational education collaborative talent development and a new development pattern.
